Erik Contreras Mencinger (2001, Lund) his currently completing his undergraduate studies in visual communication design at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana, majoring in Photography.
His personal work involves the media of photography and video, where he focuses on capturing motifs of everyday human nature. The work highlights the simultaneous banality and vibrancy of certain aspects of everyday life, which allows the viewer to rediscover the beauty and complexity of daily living.
He has participated in several group exhibitions, such as Odprta akademija 2022, Ponjava 0.3 and 0.4, Novemra smo, and Sveze ribe, Appointment 0.8. For his work, he has also received two awards: the Graphis New Talent Annual 2022 Platinum Award for the official video greeting card at the Academy, and the Outstanding 2022 Pro Award in the category of information and awareness for a poster he created for the national month of shared reading. He also received a special mention for his personal project titled Avioni, ki letijo dedka ("Planes Flying Grandfather") at the Mladi upi competition, Kranj Foto Fest.
